How to Use Durability Notifier on Vanilla Servers

Durability Notifier is designed to be as vanilla-server friendly as possible, but one feature does not work in that environment. Here is how to get the most out of the mod when playing on a vanilla server.

What Works and What Does Not

All of the mod's notification methods work fine on a vanilla server: the Percentage threshold, PlaySound, and SendMessage options all function normally because they only affect your own client. The single exception is GiveFatigue. Applying Mining Fatigue requires the server to accept the effect, and a vanilla server will not, so that option is effectively disabled there.

Setting Up for Vanilla Play

Open the config menu and make sure GiveFatigue is off so you are not relying on a feature that will not trigger. Then enable at least one notification method. PlaySound gives you an audible cue, while SendMessage shows a text alert. Turning on both gives you the best chance of noticing the warning during combat or fast mining.

Choosing a Threshold

Set the Percentage slider to a value that gives you enough time to react. Since you cannot fall back on GiveFatigue to physically stop you, a slightly higher threshold is a good idea so the sound or message arrives before the tool is on its last few uses. With these settings, the mod stays fully functional on any vanilla server.
