How do I open the Durability Notifier config menu?
Open the mod list from the in-game pause menu, find Durability Notifier, and click its config button to launch the in-game configuration screen. From there you can toggle each notification method and adjust the durability percentage.
Why am I not getting any warnings before my tool breaks?
All notification methods default to off or subtle, so you likely need to enable PlaySound or SendMessage in the config. Also check that the Percentage threshold isn't set lower than you expect, since the warning only triggers once durability drops below that value.
What does the Percentage setting actually do?
It sets the durability threshold, as a percentage between 1 and 100, at which the mod starts warning you. Once your tool's remaining durability falls below that percentage, the notifications begin firing.
How do I stop accidentally breaking my tools?
Enable GiveFatigue in the config so you receive mining fatigue when a tool reaches its limit, preventing you from swinging it further. Note this feature only works on servers that allow the effect, so it won't function on vanilla servers.
Does GiveFatigue work on vanilla servers?
No. GiveFatigue is the only feature that doesn't work while connected to a vanilla server, because it relies on server-side effect handling. All the other notification methods work fine on vanilla servers.
Is this mod client-side only, or do I need it on the server?
It's a client-side mod, so you only need it installed on your own game. It's designed to stay as vanilla server friendly as possible, meaning you can join servers without installing anything on them.
What's the difference between PlaySound and SendMessage?
PlaySound plays an audible cue when you try to use a tool that's low on durability, while SendMessage displays a text message instead. Both default to off, so enable whichever notification style you prefer in the config.
Can I change the durability percentage to warn me earlier or later?

Why does the mod notify me even when I'm not using the tool?
