Ride Horses and Vehicles Smoothly with Decoupled Controls
Understanding Decoupled Steering
The mod separates head and body movement, which extends to mounted travel. When riding a horse, your character's body faces the direction of travel while your camera can rotate independently around them. This decoupled steering prevents the awkward camera snapping that normally happens when turning mounts.
Controlling Horse Movement
Use your mouse or analog stick to rotate the camera while your horse moves in the direction your character faces. This lets you scout ahead or check for threats without forcing your horse to turn. The smooth analog movement from controller mode applies to mounted travel, making it feel natural and responsive.
Combining Zoom with Mounted Exploration
When traveling long distances on horseback, pull your camera back to a wider zoom level. This gives you better visibility of terrain ahead and helps you spot dangers like cliffs, lava, or hostile mobs before you reach them. Zoom in closer when navigating tight spaces like narrow mountain passes or Nether corridors.
