How to Tell If the Dungeons Crit Sound Pack Is Working
Comparing Vanilla and Modded Crit Audio
The quickest test is to land a critical hit with the pack disabled, then enable it and land another crit. Without the pack, the vanilla crit sound is a short, higher-pitched impact. With the pack, you should hear a heavier, more bass-heavy hit that sounds like it came from Minecraft Dungeons. If the two sounds are identical, the pack is not active. Make sure you are actually landing a crit — jump and hit a mob while falling. Attacking while standing on the ground will not trigger the crit sound, so you might mistakenly think the pack is broken.
Checking the Resource Pack Screen
Open Options → Resource Packs and confirm the Dungeons Crit Sound Resource Pack appears in the Selected column on the right, not just in Available on the left. If it is in Available, click the arrow to move it over. Also check that the pack is not grayed out or marked as incompatible — if it is, it may be built for a different game version and will not load. In that case, you need a version of the pack that matches your Minecraft version. Finally, make sure your game volume is not muted and that the Players or Hostile Creatures sound slider is turned up, since crit sounds fall under those categories. If everything looks correct but you still hear vanilla audio, another pack higher in the list is overriding it.
