Dungeons Crit Sound Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why can't I hear the new crit sound in my world?
The pack only replaces the critical hit sound, so it stays silent until you actually land a crit. Crits only trigger when you attack while falling, so jump and hit a mob mid-air to hear it.
Does this pack change normal hit sounds or only critical hits?
It only swaps the critical strike audio; regular non-crit hits keep the vanilla sound. If you hear the new noise, that hit was a crit.
How do I make sure the crit sound pack is actually enabled?
Open Options, then Resource Packs, and check that the pack sits in the Selected list on the right rather than Available on the left. If it's on the left, click it to move it over and confirm.
Can I use this crit sound pack together with other resource packs?
Yes, but load order matters because packs override each other. Place the Dungeons Crit Sound Resource Pack above any pack that also edits combat sounds so its crit audio wins.
Will this pack work on a server or with friends?
Resource packs are client-side, so it works on any server you join and only changes what you hear. Your friends won't hear the new crit sound unless they install it too.
Does the crit sound pack affect performance or FPS?
No, it only replaces audio files and adds no models, textures, or scripts. It won't lower your framerate or cause lag.
Why does the crit sound seem quieter or missing on some mobs?
The pack swaps the crit sound itself, but other sounds like mob hurt noises or nearby combat can drown it out. Try lowering Music and Ambient volume and raising Players or Hostile Creatures in sound settings.
Do I need to enable anything else for the crit sound to play?
No extra mods or settings are needed beyond having the pack selected. Just land a critical hit and the new sound plays automatically.
Can I turn the new crit sound off without removing the pack?
You can't toggle it inside the pack, but you can move it below another sound pack or unselect it in the Resource Packs menu to go back to vanilla crit audio.
Does the pack change how my world or mobs look?
No, it only changes sound files, so blocks, mobs, and textures stay exactly the same. If visuals changed, another resource pack is responsible.
