How to Hear the New Crit Sound While Fighting Mobs

Landing a Critical Hit

The pack only changes audio for critical strikes, so you need to actually trigger a crit to hear it. A critical hit happens when you attack while falling. The simplest way is to jump, then swing your sword or axe at a mob while you are still in the air and moving downward. Sprinting and attacking also produces a critical hit in many cases. If you attack while standing still on the ground, you will hear the normal hit sound, not the Dungeons crit sound. Practice on a passive mob like a pig or cow in a safe area until you recognize the difference.

Choosing the Right Weapon and Target

Any sword or axe can land a critical hit, so use whatever you have. The sound is most noticeable against mobs with a lot of health, like zoglins or piglins, because you will land multiple crits in a row and hear the effect repeatedly. In a group fight, the sound stacks with other combat audio, so it may blend in. To hear it clearly, fight one mob at a time in an open area. If you are using other resource packs that change hit sounds, move this pack above them in the resource pack list so its crit audio takes priority. The pack does not change the damage of your attacks — only the sound — so your combat strategy stays the same.
