Finding Ore Deposits in Mineshaft Variants

Matching Biome to Ore Type

Each mineshaft variant spawns specific ores, so knowing where to look saves time. Normal underground mineshafts contain iron ore veins along their main transit lines and side paths. Mesa mineshafts generate gold ore deposits within their tunnel systems. Mountain variants are your best bet for rare ores: jagged peaks hold redstone ore, while stony peaks contain emerald ore. Surface mineshafts, which spawn rarely across any biome, contain coal ore pockets.

Efficient Ore Hunting Strategy

1. Identify which biome you're exploring—check your coordinates and surroundings.

2. Follow the main transit lines first; these are the widest tunnels with minecart tracks and are most likely to contain ore deposits.

3. Check the walls and ceiling as you move through—ores replace roughly one percent of stone and deepslate in tunnel paths, so scan carefully.

4. Explore side paths and storage rooms; collapsed sections often expose ore veins in their walls.

5. Bring a pickaxe suited to the ore type (stone pickaxe minimum for most ores, iron for emerald and redstone).

Note that ores only generate within the tunnel structures themselves, not in surrounding stone, so stay within the mineshaft layout for best results.
