How to Find a Jungle Ruins (Overhauled Jungle Temple)

Getting the Explorer Map

Vanilla jungle temples are removed by this data pack, so you cannot stumble onto one the old way. The reliable route is a Jungle Explorer Map. Visit a Cartographer villager and unlock the jungle temple trade — this data pack uses the experimental trades system, so make sure the world was created with the experimental trade option enabled, otherwise the map will never appear in the Cartographer's offers. Trade for the map, then hold it and follow the marker.

Searching Efficiently

Jungle Ruins are deliberately rare, so the map marker may sit a long distance from your base. Prepare for a real expedition:

  • Bring a bed, food, and spare tools — the trip is long and the structure is dangerous.
  • Travel by boat along rivers and coastlines where possible; jungle terrain is slow on foot.
  • Once the marker resolves, look for a large temple complex surrounded by a custom jungle village rather than a small mossy cobblestone pyramid.
  • If the map points into ungenerated chunks, keep walking until terrain loads so the structure can place.

When you arrive, expect Bogged, Zombies, and Cave Spiders already inside, plus traps and a labyrinth. Do not treat this like a vanilla temple — scout the exterior village first before entering the main ruin.
