Set Up an Automatic Villager Drop Farm

Farm Design Basics

An automatic farm uses fall damage, suffocation, or other mechanics to kill villagers and collect their drops efficiently.

Building Your Farm

1. Create a containment area: Build a small chamber where villagers can be held. Use blocks or water to prevent escape.

2. Add a damage source: Common options include:

  • A fall from sufficient height to kill villagers
  • Suffocation using pistons or sand
  • Magma blocks or cacti (though these may destroy drops)

3. Install collection system: Place hoppers below the killing zone to catch drops automatically. Connect hoppers to a chest or storage system.

4. Add a villager input: Use water streams or minecarts to transport villagers into the farm from a breeding area or holding pen.

5. Separate by profession (optional): If you want specific drops, build separate chambers for different villager types and route them accordingly.

6. Test the setup: Kill a few villagers manually to confirm drops are being collected before automating the input.
