Maximize Villager Drops When Farming Trades
Understanding Drop Mechanics
When a villager dies, the mod gives it a chance to drop items from its trade inventory. Different profession villagers carry different trade goods, so the drops you receive depend on which villager you kill.
Strategy for Better Loot
1. Identify high-value traders: Librarians, Masons, and Cartographers typically offer rare or hard-to-obtain items. Prioritize these professions if you want specific drops.
2. Kill villagers after they've restocked: Villagers restock their trades periodically. Waiting for a restock may increase the variety of items in their trade pool, potentially improving drop chances.
3. Use area-of-effect damage: Killing multiple villagers at once with splash potions or explosions can yield multiple drops in a single event.
4. Set up a farm location: Create a dedicated killing zone near your base where you can efficiently dispatch villagers and collect drops without losing items to despawn.
5. Collect drops immediately: Items dropped by villagers follow standard Minecraft drop rules—they despawn after 5 minutes, so stay nearby or use hoppers to funnel drops into storage.
