Drip Sounds Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get drip sounds to actually play in my world?
Place a water or lava block above another block so drip particles form, then stand close enough to hear them land. The mod only plays sounds where the particles appear, so if you see no particles you will hear nothing.
Why aren't my water drips making any sound?
Check that drip particles are actually spawning and that your volume for the drip sound category isn't turned down. If the particle count is set very low or off, drips will rarely or never trigger a sound.
Do I need to install this mod on the server for it to work?
No, the mod works client-side, so you can hear drip sounds on any server without the server having it installed. Other players without the mod simply won't hear the sounds you do.
How do I change the drip sound volume?
Open the mod's config file and adjust the volume setting for droplet sounds, which is quiet by default. Raise it if you want drips more noticeable or lower it if they're distracting.
How do I make more or fewer drip particles appear?
Use the config option that controls drip particle frequency to increase or decrease how often drips spawn. More particles means more frequent sounds, fewer means sparser dripping.
Can I switch the water drip sound back to the old sound instead of the Dripstone sound?
Yes, the config lets you toggle between the default Dripstone sounds and the older drip sounds. Change the sound option in the config file and reload or restart as needed.
What sound does a lava drip make in this mod?
Lava drips play a sizzle or hissing sound when the droplet lands, matching the hot liquid hitting a surface. Water drips instead play a water pop sound.
Why do I hear drip sounds but see no particles?
Particles and sounds are linked, so if you hear drips the particles are likely just hard to see against certain blocks or lighting. Try moving closer or checking your particle settings in video options.
Does this mod hurt performance or cause lag?
The mod is lightweight since it only adds sounds tied to existing drip particles. If you set the particle frequency very high in config, you may notice more particles and sounds, so lower it if performance drops.
Will this mod conflict with other sound or particle mods?
It generally works alongside other mods, but mods that heavily change drip particles or sound events could overlap with it. If drips sound wrong or doubled, check your other sound and particle mods first.
