Reduce Vignette Darkness for Better Screen Visibility

Open Shader Configuration

Access your shader settings menu in-game. Navigate to the DreadShade shader options.

Locate Vignette Controls

Find the vignette or tunnel-vision setting. This controls how much the edges of your screen darken. DreadShade's vignette is intense by design, but it can make peripheral vision nearly impossible.

Decrease Vignette Intensity

Lower the vignette strength or radius value. Reducing this will brighten the edges of your screen, giving you better awareness of your surroundings without losing the horror mood entirely. A moderate vignette still creates tension while keeping gameplay functional.

Customize for Comfort

Consider your monitor size and viewing distance. Players on smaller screens or sitting close may find even a reduced vignette uncomfortable. Experiment with lower values until you can comfortably see your hotbar and peripheral threats.

Save and Verify

Apply changes and test in different lighting conditions—caves, forests, and open sky. The vignette should still darken edges noticeably but not completely obscure important information.
