Adjust Shadow Quality and Distance
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated key while in-game (usually accessed through the Pause menu → Options → Shader Options, or via a direct keybind). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Locate the shadow distance slider—this controls how far from your character shadows render. Lower values improve performance on weaker hardware; higher values extend shadows across more terrain.
Find the shadow quality or resolution setting. Increasing this makes shadows crisper and more detailed, but demands more GPU power. On budget systems, keep this moderate to maintain frame rate.
Fine-Tune for Your Hardware
If you experience frame drops, reduce shadow distance first, then quality. Test changes by moving through different lighting conditions—under trees, near cliffs, and in open areas—to see the impact. The shader is optimized for low-end systems, so even minimal settings should look clean and semi-realistic.
Save your configuration once you find a balance between visual quality and performance that suits your computer.
