Optimize Your Base Layout to Work with Door-Closing Villagers

Design Principles

Instead of fighting the mod's behavior, design your base to benefit from villagers closing doors. This creates a more organized and secure living space.

Layout Strategies

  • Dedicated villager zones: Assign specific rooms or areas for villagers to inhabit. Doors to these zones will naturally close behind them, keeping them contained.
  • Airlock entrances: Create double-door systems at your base entrance. Villagers will close the first door as they enter, then the second as they leave, preventing mob infiltration.
  • Separate pathways: Design your base with distinct routes—one for you, one for villagers. Use doors only on your routes; give villagers open corridors or alternative passage methods.
  • Secure storage areas: Place doors on rooms containing valuable items or dangerous materials. Villagers will automatically close these doors, adding an extra layer of security.
  • Central hub design: Create an open central area where villagers naturally congregate, with individual rooms branching off. Doors to these rooms will stay closed when not in use.

This approach transforms the mod's behavior into a practical organizational tool for your base.
