Use Item Tags to Configure Multiple Items at Once

Why Use Item Tags

Instead of creating separate configurations for each item, item tags let you group similar items and apply one behavior to all of them. This is especially useful for tool sets or ingredient categories.

Configuring with Tags

In your dispenser configuration JSON, use the item_tag field instead of item. Reference any existing Minecraft tag or create your own in data/namespace/tags/items/your_tag.json.

For example, to configure all wooden tools:

`json

{

"item_tag": "minecraft:wooden_tools",

"usage_type": "ITEM_USE",

"targets": [...]

}

`

Creating Custom Tags

Define a custom tag file with:

`json

{

"values": [

"minecraft:diamond_axe",

"minecraft:diamond_pickaxe"

]

}

`

This approach scales well—add new items to the tag file without touching your dispenser config. Reload with /reload to update behavior across all tagged items.
