Make a Dispenser Plant Crops or Fertilize Blocks
Understanding Block Targeting
To make a dispenser interact with specific blocks (like planting seeds or applying bone meal), you need to configure an item with BLOCK_USE or similar usage type, then specify which blocks it should target.
Configuration for Crop Interaction
Create a JSON config for your seed or fertilizer item. In the targets array, define:
- block_type: The block the dispenser should interact with (e.g.,
minecraft:farmlandfor seeds, or crop blocks for bone meal) - behavior: How the item should act (this depends on the mod's supported behaviors)
Example for bone meal on grass:
`json
{
"item": "minecraft:bone_meal",
"usage_type": "BLOCK_USE",
"targets": [
{"blocks": ["minecraft:grass_block", "minecraft:dirt"]}
]
}
`
Testing Your Setup
Place the dispenser adjacent to or facing the target block. Power it with redstone. The dispenser should now use the item on that block type automatically. Adjust your target block list if needed and reload.
