How to Stop Eggs From Hatching (Disable the Mod's Effect)

Why You Might Want to Disable Hatching

Automatic hatching can flood your base with chicks if you have a chicken farm dropping eggs everywhere. You may want eggs to despawn normally without producing chickens.

Change the Hatch Chance

Open the mod's config file. Find the setting that controls the probability of hatching. Setting this value to zero means eggs will never hatch, and they will despawn as they normally would in vanilla.

Save the file and reload the game or world so the change takes effect. After this, any egg that reaches its despawn timer will simply vanish.

Alternative: Restrict Where Eggs Hatch

If you only want to stop hatching in certain places, remember that hatching only happens on hay blocks by default. Remove hay blocks from areas where you do not want chicks, and eggs on other blocks will not hatch. This lets you keep automatic hatching in one controlled pen while preventing it elsewhere.

Things to Check

  • Make sure you edited the correct config for the world or instance you are playing.
  • If hatching still occurs, confirm the chance value was saved and the game was restarted.
  • You can also lower the nearby-chicken limit so hatching stops once a small number of chickens are present.
