How to Configure the Despawning Eggs Hatch Mod Settings

Find the Config File

After installing the mod, a config file is generated for it. Locate it in your instance's config folder. Open it with a plain text editor so you can read and change the values.

Key Settings to Adjust

  • Hatch chance: the probability that an egg hatches when its despawn timer ends. A value of one means it always hatches; zero means it never does. Values in between make hatching occasional.
  • Nearby chicken limit: the maximum number of chickens allowed within a radius around the egg for hatching to be permitted. If the count is at or above this, the egg will not hatch.
  • Hay block requirement: by default eggs only hatch when sitting on a hay block. This keeps hatching limited to spots you choose.

Apply and Test

Save the file, then reload the world or restart the game.

Tips

  • Change one setting at a time so you can tell which one affected the result.
  • If hatching seems too frequent, lower the chance and the nearby limit together.
  • Keep a backup copy of the config before editing, so you can restore defaults if needed.
