Despatra’s CRT Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I enable the shader after installing it?
Open your Video Settings in-game, select Shaders, and choose Despatra's CRT from the list. Click Apply and the effect will activate immediately on your screen.
Can I use this shader with other mods?
Yes, this shader works as a vanilla shader pack and is compatible with most mods. However, mods that heavily modify rendering or use their own shaders may conflict—test in-game to confirm.
Why does my screen look blurry with the shader on?
The blur is part of the CRT effect, but you can reduce it by opening the shader settings and adjusting the Screen Blur and Sharpness option to your preference.
What are scanlines and how do I make them stronger?
Scanlines are the horizontal lines that mimic an old television screen. You can increase their visibility by adjusting the CRT Scanline Intensity setting in the shader options.
How do I turn off the color fringing effect?
That effect is called Chromatic Aberration. Open your shader settings and disable the Chromatic Aberration option to remove the colored edge distortion.
Can I make the colors warmer or cooler?
Yes, you can customize the Color Tone and Warmth setting in the shader options to shift the overall color temperature to match your preference.
Does this shader work on lower-end computers?
The shader is relatively lightweight as a vanilla shader pack, but performance depends on your system specs and render distance. If you experience lag, try lowering scanline intensity or disabling chromatic aberration.
Why do my screenshots look different from what I see in-game?
Screenshots taken with F2 may not capture shader effects the same way your eyes see them on screen. This is normal behavior for shader packs.
Can I use this shader in multiplayer servers?
Yes, shaders are client-side only and don't affect other players or server rules. You can use this shader on any server you can normally join.
How do I reset the shader settings to default?
Open the shader settings menu and look for a Reset or Defaults option to restore all settings to their original values.
