Understand the Threat

The tall dark figure in Descend is aggressive and will pursue you if spotted. It moves through the facility hunting for players, so direct confrontation is not viable. Your goal is to avoid detection and escape.

Immediate Survival Steps

1. Stay in shadows — Keep away from the dim lights and hanging bulbs. The entity is drawn to lit areas and movement in open spaces.

2. Listen for sounds — Pay attention to footsteps and ambient noise. If you hear the entity approaching, immediately hide in nearby rooms or behind structures.

3. Use small light sources sparingly — Carry a minimal light source (like a torch or lantern) but keep it lowered when possible. Bright light attracts attention.

4. Hide in corners and alcoves — Duck into cubicles, side rooms, or basement alcoves when you sense danger. The entity cannot check every hiding spot simultaneously.

5. Move between areas quickly — Don't linger in hallways. Sprint between rooms and safe zones to minimize exposure time.

6. Memorize escape routes — As you explore, note which corridors lead toward exits. Plan your path before the entity forces you to run.
