Maintain Stable Reflections While Moving Across Large Water Bodies
Enable Temporal Stability Features
Flickering reflections occur when the shader recalculates reflections too aggressively as you move. Open shader settings and locate Temporal Anti-Aliasing or Reflection Stability options. Enable these to smooth reflection updates across frames.
Adjust Movement Sensitivity
Find the Reflection Update Rate or Temporal Smoothing slider. Higher values make reflections more stable as you walk or swim, though extremely high values may cause slight ghosting. Start at a moderate setting and adjust based on your movement speed.
Reduce Reflection Resolution if Needed
If flickering persists despite stability settings, lower the Reflection Resolution slightly. This trades some sharpness for smoother, more consistent reflections—particularly noticeable when paired with long-distance rendering mods.
Test Movement Patterns
Walk along shorelines and swim across open water to observe reflection behavior. Flickering should be minimal or invisible. If you notice instability in specific areas, check if those zones have unusual terrain or block configurations that confuse the reflection system.
