Fix Black Artifacts and Visual Glitches at Water Edges

Identify the Problem

Black boxes or dark streaks typically appear at screen edges near water surfaces, or in bright areas where lighting should be smooth. These are common artifacts in shader packs.

Access Edge Filtering Options

Open your shader settings and search for options labeled Edge Detection, Artifact Removal, or Screen Edge Clipping. Derivative Reborn Shaders includes specific fixes for these issues.

Disable Problematic Features

If black boxes persist, try disabling Screen Space Reflections temporarily to confirm that's the source. Then re-enable it and look for a Reflection Clipping or Edge Smoothing toggle.

Adjust Lighting Smoothness

Look for Lighting Artifacts or Bright Area Fixes settings. These prevent dark streaks in sunlit zones. Increase the smoothing value gradually.

Verify Underwater Settings

Ensure that Underwater Caustics or similar effects aren't set too high, as this can cause visual noise. Test in both shallow and deep water to confirm the fix works across different depths.
