How to Set Up default-server.properties for Your Modpack
Create the File in the Right Place
Open your Minecraft instance folder — the same directory that contains the mods folder, config folder, and options.txt. Create a new plain text file here named exactly default-server.properties. The name is case-sensitive on some systems, so match it precisely.
You do not need to copy the full vanilla server.properties file. Only list the lines you actually want to change. Any property you leave out keeps its normal Minecraft default.
Add Your Properties
Open the file in a plain text editor and add one property per line using the standard key=value format, for example:
`
level-name=MyPackWorld
motd=Welcome to the pack
pvp=true
online-mode=true
view-distance=10
`
Save the file. The next time a brand new world/server is generated, the mod reads this file and applies those values instead of the vanilla defaults. Existing worlds are not touched — only freshly created ones pick up the settings.
Verify It Worked
Start a new world, then open the generated server.properties for that world and confirm your values appear. If something is missing, check for typos in the key names and make sure the file sits in the main game folder, not inside config or saves.
