How to Change the Default World Name and MOTD for New Worlds

Set the World Folder Name

The level-name property controls the folder name Minecraft uses for the world save. Add it to default-server.properties:

`

level-name=MyPackWorld

`

When a player creates a new world, the save is stored under that name instead of the usual world folder. This is handy for modpacks that ship with a pre-built map or that want a recognizable folder for backups and server hosting.

Set the Message of the Day

The motd property is the line shown in the server list and in some multiplayer menus. Add it like this:

`

motd=Welcome to MyPack - Season 1

`

Keep it short; long MOTDs get truncated in the server list. Avoid special characters that might not render in every client.

Apply and Test

Save the file, then create a brand new world in-game. Check that the save folder uses your chosen name and that the MOTD appears where expected. Remember these values only apply to newly generated worlds — if you already have a world, edit its own server.properties directly or delete and recreate it. Reusing the same level-name across players is fine because each install keeps its own save folder.
