Default HD Sun and Moon Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does the Default HD Sun and Moon Resource Pack actually change?
It replaces only the sun and moon textures with higher-resolution versions, leaving everything else in the default look untouched. You won't see changes to clouds, stars, sky colors, or any blocks.
How do I know the pack is working after I enable it?
Look up at the daytime sun or the nighttime moon — the edges and surface detail should look noticeably sharper than vanilla. If they still look pixelated, the pack isn't active or is being overridden by another pack.
Does this pack change the sun and moon size or position in the sky?
No, it only swaps the textures. The size, position, and movement of the celestial bodies stay exactly as they are in vanilla Minecraft.
Why does the moon look the same as vanilla even though the pack is enabled?
Another resource pack loaded above it is likely overriding the moon texture. Move the HD Sun and Moon pack to the top of your active pack list so its textures take priority.
Can I use this pack together with a shader pack?
Yes, but many shaders replace the sun and moon with their own textures, which will override this pack. If you want the HD textures to show, disable the shader's custom celestial bodies or use a shader that doesn't touch them.
Will this pack affect my FPS or performance?
No, the impact is negligible since it only swaps two small textures. Any performance change you notice is coming from something else, like shaders or other mods.
Does it work in the Nether or End?
The Nether and End don't render the overworld sun and moon, so you won't see the pack's textures there. It only applies to the overworld sky.
Can I combine it with other resource packs like texture or UI packs?
Yes, resource packs stack. Place the HD Sun and Moon pack above any pack that also edits the sun or moon, and below packs you want to take priority for other textures.
Why does the sun look blurry or stretched instead of HD?
This usually happens when another pack lower in the list is still supplying a vanilla-resolution sun texture, or when the pack isn't actually at the top. Reorder your packs so this one loads first.
Is this pack compatible with mods that change the sky, like custom dimensions or astronomy mods?
It works anywhere the game uses the standard sun and moon textures. Mods that draw their own celestial bodies with custom rendering won't be affected by this pack.
