Decade of the Damned Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
When does Hollow Steve first appear?
Hollow Steve begins stalking you on Day 3 by default, starting with subtle signs like distant footsteps and whispers before transitioning into an active hunt. You can adjust the start day in the mod's configuration settings if you want an earlier or later encounter.
How do I avoid alerting Hollow Steve to my location?
Avoid sprinting, breaking blocks, opening containers, and using items, as Hollow Steve can hear all of these actions. Crouching and moving slowly reduces the chance of detection, though the entity will eventually find you regardless as the hunt progresses.
Can I escape Hollow Steve by going to the Nether or End?
No—Hollow Steve pursues you across all dimensions without resetting its combat progress, so portals offer no safety. Your only way to stop the pursuit is to defeat the entity in combat.
What happens if I die to Hollow Steve?
Hollow Steve remains in the world and continues hunting you after you respawn; the fight does not reset. You'll need to locate and engage the entity again to progress toward defeating it.
Do I fight Hollow Steve alone or can my friends help?
Multiple players can fight Hollow Steve together, and every active participant receives personal, theft-proof reward bundles after each victory. The boss's progression state is shared across the server to prevent duplicate spawns.
What rewards do I get for winning each phase?
After each victory, you receive gear like Totems of Undying, enchanted Netherite armor, strong potions, and weapons. Defeating Phase 10 grants stacks of Netherite blocks, Diamond blocks, and Enchanted Golden Apples.
What makes Phase 10 different from the other phases?
Phase 10 is an enraged three-stage final showdown where Hollow Steve is significantly more dangerous than previous phases. Defeating it unlocks New Game+ mode, where the entity has higher health, damage, and speed scaling.
Can Hollow Steve break my base or destroy my builds?
If destructive options are enabled in the config, Hollow Steve will break nearby light sources and shelter blocks during later phases. You can disable this behavior in the mod settings to protect your builds.
Why does Hollow Steve keep teleporting closer to me?
If you move too far away, Hollow Steve teleports closer with a visual warning effect to prevent you from escaping indefinitely. This mechanic forces engagement and prevents kiting strategies from trivializing the fight.
Can I sleep through the night while being hunted?
No—Hollow Steve will interrupt your sleep by canceling bed rest, displaying ominous messages, or spawning a Creeper nearby. You must stay alert and deal with the entity instead of waiting out the night.
