Death Sound Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Why can't I hear the death sound when my friend dies?
Make sure you have the DeathSound-Resources resource pack enabled in your game settings, and that the player who died is within your render distance. The mod only plays sounds for deaths you can actually see or that occur nearby.
How do I add my own death sound files?
Enable the DeathSound-Resources resource pack, open the custom sound menu and click Open Sound Folder, then drag your .ogg audio files into that folder using lowercase filenames. After restarting your game, your new sounds will appear in the selection menu.
What audio file format does this mod support?
The mod accepts .ogg files, which is the standard audio format for Minecraft resource packs. You'll need to convert audio from other formats (like .mp3 or .wav) to .ogg before adding them to the mod.
Can I use this mod on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod works entirely on your client side, so you don't need server permission or installation to use it on any server. Everyone on the server will still hear their own custom death sounds based on their settings.
How do I make the death sound quieter or louder?
Open the Death Sound Mod settings menu and use the volume slider to adjust how loud the audio cue plays. You can also adjust the pitch to make sounds higher or lower if desired.
Do the particle effects show up for everyone or just me?
The visual particle effects only appear on your screen based on your mod settings; other players won't see them unless they have the mod installed with the same effects enabled.
My custom sound file isn't showing up in the menu, what's wrong?
Check that your file is in .ogg format, uses all lowercase letters in the filename, and is in the correct sound folder. If you're on a newer game version, lowercase filenames are especially important for the mod to recognize the file.
Can I delay when the death sound plays after someone dies?
Yes, the mod includes timing controls in the settings menu that let you adjust when the audio cue triggers relative to the actual death event.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is lightweight and runs entirely on your client, so it shouldn't noticeably impact performance even with particle effects enabled. Audio playback is minimal and won't strain your system.
Can I use sounds from other video games as death notifications?
Yes, the mod supports custom audio files, so you can convert sounds from other games to .ogg format and add them to the sound folder to use as your death warnings.
