How to Restore an Older Inventory Instead of Your Most Recent Death
Why You Might Want an Older Save
Sometimes the most recent death is not the one you want back. Maybe you died again before recovering, or you want the inventory from several deaths ago. The mod keeps each death as a separate save file, so older inventories remain available.
Step-by-Step
1. Confirm cheats are enabled.
2. Run /deathbackup list and locate the entry for the older death. Entries are indexed, so earlier deaths sit at different indices than the newest one.
3. Identify the correct index using the details shown for each entry.
4. Run /deathbackup load <index> with that older index.
5. Check your inventory to confirm you got the right snapshot.
If you pick the wrong one, simply run the command again with a different index — nothing is consumed by loading, so you can try entries until you find the inventory you want.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Loading overwrites your current inventory with the saved contents, so move anything you want to keep into a chest first.
- Because saves live in the world folder, they persist across sessions, meaning an old death from a previous play session can still be recovered.
- If a save seems missing from the list, it may have been for a different world — saves are per-world.
