Prevent Other Players from Stealing Your Death Chest Items
How Owner Protection Works
Death chests are owner-locked by default, meaning only the player who died can open the chest and access their items. The hologram displays the owner's name so everyone knows whose loot it is.
What This Protection Covers
- Only the chest owner can open and withdraw items
- The chest itself cannot be destroyed by explosions or other players' actions
- Grief attempts and TNT blasts won't damage or open the container
- Items remain completely secure until the despawn timer runs out
Server Configuration Options
Server administrators can configure whether death chests are:
- Private: Only the owner can access (default)
- Public: Any player can open and take items
If your server has public chests enabled, items won't be protected from theft. Ask your server admin to verify that private owner-locked chests are active if you're concerned about item security. The hologram countdown timer ensures you know exactly how long you have to retrieve your belongings before they disappear.
