Dead Chest 9minecraft Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything to activate the death chest when I die?
No—the death chest creates automatically when you die if the plugin is installed and enabled on the server. Your items will be gathered into a chest or player head at your death location with a hologram showing your name and time remaining.
How long does a death chest stay before my items disappear?
The despawn timer is set by your server admin and varies per server, but you can check the hologram floating above your death chest to see the exact countdown. Ask your server operator if you need to know the default duration.
Can other players open my death chest and take my stuff?
That depends on your server's configuration—death chests can be set to private (owner-locked) or public (anyone can access). Check with your server admin about the rules, or look for guides on preventing theft if you have admin access.
What happens to my experience points when I die?
If your server admin enabled experience storage, your XP will be saved inside the death chest alongside your items. You can retrieve it by opening the chest, just like collecting your inventory.
Can creepers or other explosions destroy my death chest?
No—death chests are protected from explosions and griefing by default, so your items stay safe even if the area around you gets blown up.
Why did some of my items drop on the ground instead of going in the chest?
Your server admin may have configured item filtering to let certain items drop normally while storing the rest in the death chest. Check with them about which items are excluded.
Does the death chest work in all worlds on my server?
Most servers enable death chests everywhere, but your admin can set per-world rules—some worlds might have different timers or be disabled entirely. Ask your server operator if you're unsure about a specific world.
Will the death chest work if I die in a WorldGuard protected region?
Yes—the plugin integrates with WorldGuard, so death chests will still create and function normally inside protected regions without conflicts.
What's the difference between a chest and a player head death container?
Both hold your items and work the same way; your server admin simply chose which block type to use. Player heads take up less visual space, while chests are more traditional and easier to spot.
Does this plugin cause lag on the server?
The plugin is designed to run smoothly on standard server software and even supports multithreaded Folia environments, so it should not cause noticeable performance issues.
