Fixing DarkMenu Buttons That Look Wrong or Unreadable

The RPG button text is the most common complaint: letters that blend into the background, or buttons that look misaligned after adding other mods.

Check for conflicting UI mods

DarkMenu changes button text styling. Any mod that also redraws menus — custom main menu mods, HUD editors, or mod-menu replacers — will fight it. Disable the other menu mod temporarily and reload. If the buttons look correct alone, you have a conflict, and load order decides the winner.

Fixing contrast with a resource pack

If the text is simply hard to read against the background, the fix is a resource pack that changes either the button texture or the font colour. Darken or lighten the button texture so the text stands out. Keep the button texture the same dimensions as the original so the text stays centred.

Scaling and GUI size

At very small GUI scale the RPG font can become cramped. Raise your GUI scale in video settings one step and check the main menu again. If buttons overlap at large scales, that is a resolution issue, not a mod bug — drop the scale back down.

When nothing helps

If buttons are unreadable no matter what, remove DarkMenu and confirm the vanilla menu returns to normal. That tells you the mod is the cause and not a corrupted options file.
