Set Up Your First Game as Storyteller

Prepare Your Space

Before starting, ensure all players are on your server and have joined the world. Set up a central meeting area where players can gather for town square votes, and separate player houses or isolated areas for private discussions during night phases.

Initialize the Game

1. Open chat and type /botb setup to begin the setup process

2. Open your Grimoire (check your keybinds for the Grimoire key)

3. Press T to view the storyteller keybind list and familiarize yourself with available controls

4. Use the Grimoire interface to assign roles to each player—click on player tokens and select their character from your chosen script

5. Once all roles are assigned, trigger Dusk to begin the first night phase

During Gameplay

The mod will automatically manage night order sequences, so you'll receive step-by-step visitor prompts telling you exactly which roles wake up and in what order. During the day, use the daytime phase controls to manage nomination limits, set vote timers, and run town square executions. The mod handles all vote counting and displays results automatically.
