Adjusting Your View Distance to See Cubic Stars Clearly
Why View Distance Matters
The sun and moon are rendered at the far edge of your visible world. Your render distance setting determines how far you can see into the sky, affecting how clearly the Cubic Stars models appear and how much of the sky is visible around them.
Recommended Settings
For optimal viewing of the three-dimensional sun and moon, use a render distance of at least 12 chunks. This ensures the celestial bodies remain visible and detailed without unnecessary performance strain. Higher distances (16+ chunks) provide even better sky visibility and allow you to see the cubic geometry from greater distances.
Performance Balance
If your computer struggles with higher render distances, you can still enjoy Cubic Stars at 8-10 chunks, though the celestial bodies may appear slightly smaller. The cubic details remain visible even at moderate distances.
Testing Your Setup
Adjust your render distance in Video Settings, then travel to an open area like a plains biome or ocean. Look toward the horizon during sunrise, sunset, or nighttime to see how your chosen distance affects the appearance and clarity of the sun or moon. Experiment to find the balance between visual quality and performance that works for your system.
