Cubic Stars Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything after installing Cubic Stars or does it work automatically?
Cubic Stars works automatically once installed—just load a world and look up at the sky. The 3D sun and moon will replace the flat textures without any configuration needed.
Why does the sun or moon look flat or broken?
This usually happens when your view distance is too low or another resource pack is overriding the textures. Check the Troubleshooting Missing or Distorted Cubic Sun and Moon guide, or try increasing your render distance in video settings.
Can I use Cubic Stars with other sky or weather mods?
Yes, but conflicts can occur depending on which mods modify sky textures. See the Combining Cubic Stars with Other Sky Mods and Packs guide for load order and compatibility tips.
What's the best view distance to see the 3D models clearly?
Higher view distances show more detail, but you can see the cubic shapes clearly at moderate distances. Check Adjusting Your View Distance to See Cubic Stars Clearly for specific recommendations based on your system.
Does Cubic Stars work in all dimensions or just the Overworld?
Cubic Stars only affects the Overworld sky where the sun and moon appear. The Nether and End have their own sky rendering and won't display the 3D models.
Will this pack make my game lag?
Cubic Stars has minimal performance impact since it only replaces sky textures with 3D models. If you experience lag, it's likely from other mods or settings—try lowering your render distance or disabling other resource packs.
How do the sun and moon look during sunrise and sunset?
The 3D models rotate and change color during these transitions, creating a more dynamic and immersive effect than flat textures. See Viewing the 3D Sun and Moon at Different Times for details on how they appear throughout the day cycle.
Can I customize the size or appearance of the sun and moon?
Cubic Stars doesn't include built-in customization options—the models are fixed as part of the pack. If you want to modify them, you'd need to edit the resource pack files directly.
Does Cubic Stars work with Optifine or shader packs?
Cubic Stars is compatible with Optifine, though some shader packs may affect how the sky renders. Test your specific shader combination, as results vary depending on the pack's sky settings.
Why can't I see the 3D sun or moon even though the pack is installed?
Check that the pack is enabled in your resource pack list, your view distance isn't too low, and no conflicting packs are loaded above it. Refer to the troubleshooting guide if the issue persists.
