Extend Your View Distance with Distant Horizons Integration
Setting Up Distant Horizons
Distant Horizons allows this shader to render terrain far beyond normal chunk limits, creating expansive, beautiful vistas. Ensure Distant Horizons is installed alongside the shader mod.
Configuring Render Distance
1. Open shader options (Right Shift)
2. Navigate to Performance or Distant Horizons settings
3. Adjust the Distant Horizons Render Distance slider—this controls how far terrain is drawn
4. Start conservatively (around 256 blocks) and increase if your frame rate allows
5. Higher distances create stunning panoramic views but demand more GPU power
Optimizing Performance
If distant terrain causes lag:
- Reduce the render distance slider
- Lower shadow distance or disable path tracing temporarily
- Decrease volumetric fog density
- Ensure your graphics driver is up to date
Distant terrain is rendered at lower detail than nearby chunks, so distant mountains and landscapes appear simplified. This integration works seamlessly with Iris and creates dramatic landscape views, especially from high elevations or across oceans.
