Enable Path Tracing for Realistic Light Bouncing
Accessing Path Tracing Settings
Path tracing simulates how light naturally bounces around your world, creating soft shadows and realistic illumination in caves and enclosed spaces. Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated key (usually Right Shift or check your keybinds) while in-game.
Turning On Path Tracing
1. Navigate to the Lighting or Advanced section of shader settings
2. Look for Path Tracing or Global Illumination option
3. Enable the toggle
4. Adjust the Path Tracing Samples slider—higher values create smoother, more realistic light but reduce frame rate
5. Start with a moderate setting and increase gradually to find your performance sweet spot
Performance Considerations
Path tracing is computationally expensive. If your frame rate drops significantly, reduce samples or enable it selectively in specific areas. You can also lower other settings like shadow distance or volumetric fog to compensate. Path tracing works best when paired with a capable GPU and becomes more noticeable in dimly lit areas like caves, dungeons, and interiors where light naturally scatters through air and bounces off surfaces.
