Cropville Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get my first seeds to start farming?
Break tall grass around your world to find seeds, or fish and open dungeon chests for bonus seed drops. Once you have seeds, till soil with a hoe and plant them like vanilla crops—they'll grow through their own growth stages before you can harvest.
What's the fastest way to get a lot of seeds early game?
Adjust the seed drop rate using `/cropvilleconfig set` to increase how often seeds appear in tall grass and loot. You can also fish extensively or explore nearby dungeons, which spawn bonus seeds in their chests.
Do I need a special farmland block or regular dirt?
Cropville crops grow on regular tilled farmland just like vanilla crops—no special blocks needed. Keep the soil hydrated by staying near water, and crops will progress through their growth stages normally.
How do I cook meals from my harvest?
Use a crafting table with your harvested crops as ingredients to create prepared foods and drinks like soups, salads, pies, and
coffee. Check your guides or the crafting interface to see which crops combine into which meals.

Yes—village farmers and wandering traders will buy your fresh produce and rare seeds in exchange for emeralds. Bring your harvested crops to these traders to turn your farm profits into currency.
What happens if I change config settings mid-game?
Use `/cropvilleconfig reload` to apply changes to seed drop rates and loot chances without restarting your world. Your existing crops won't be affected, but new seeds will spawn at the updated rates.
Are there crops that need special conditions to grow?
All Cropville crops follow standard Minecraft farming mechanics—they grow on tilled, hydrated farmland with light access. No specialty plants require unique blocks or biomes beyond regular farming setup.
Can I find seeds in the Nether or End?
Seeds primarily spawn in the Overworld through tall grass, fishing, dungeon chests, and trial chamber vaults. You can adjust loot chances with config commands if you want to customize where seeds appear.
Do Cropville crops affect performance or cause lag?
The mod adds many crops and recipes but is designed to run smoothly on standard systems. If you experience lag, try reducing the number of active crops or adjusting render distance.
Can I use Cropville crops in other mod recipes?
Cropville crops are primarily designed for Cropville's own cooking recipes and villager trades. Compatibility with other mods depends on how those mods handle custom items, but cross-mod recipes aren't guaranteed.
