Critical Strike Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I enable critical strikes instead of jump crits?
The mod automatically replaces vanilla jump critical hits with the chance-based system when installed—no configuration needed to start. Your sword swings and arrow shots will now roll for critical hits on every attack rather than requiring you to jump.
What's the difference between Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Damage?
Critical Hit Chance controls how often you land a critical strike (base 5%), while Critical Hit Damage determines how much extra damage each crit deals (base 50% bonus, or 1.5x multiplier). You can increase both separately through enchantments and status effects.
How do I stack critical chance bonuses?
Use the Critical Hit enchantment (up to level 5, adding 4% per level) on your weapons, drink Critical Hit Effect potions (5% per level), and adjust the base critical chance in the mod settings to combine all bonuses together.
Do critical strikes work on bows and crossbows?
Yes, ranged weapons trigger critical strikes just like melee weapons do. Every arrow or bolt shot has a chance to crit based on your total critical chance, and you'll see custom particles and hear distinct sound effects when they connect.
Can I use splash and lingering potions for critical effects?
Yes, both Critical Hit Effect and Critical Impact Effect work as regular potions, splash potions, lingering potions, and tipped arrows, so you can apply them to yourself or teammates in any combat situation.
Why is my game lagging during big fights?
Enable the tick batching option in the mod settings to keep performance smooth during large battles with many critical hits triggering at once.
Can I adjust the volume of critical hit sounds separately?
Yes, the mod provides separate volume controls for melee critical hit sounds and projectile critical hit sounds so you can balance audio feedback to your preference.
Do I need to jump to trigger critical strikes?
No, the mod removes the jump requirement entirely—critical strikes now trigger randomly on any sword swing or arrow shot based on your critical chance percentage.
What particle effects show when I land a critical hit?
The mod displays custom particle bursts including sparkles, skulls, and expanding rings on every successful critical strike, which you can customize in the settings.
Can I turn off critical strikes for specific weapons?
The mod applies to all melee and ranged weapons by default; check your mod configuration file for options to exclude specific weapon types or disable the system entirely if needed.
