Cripe Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Cripe Shaders after installing it?
Open your Video Settings, go to Shaders, and select Cripe Shaders from the list. The glitch effects will apply immediately to your world.
Can I make the screen glitches less intense so I can actually see what I'm doing?
Yes—open the shader options menu (usually by clicking the Settings button next to the shader name) and look for intensity, strength, or effect amount sliders to dial down the corruption, color separation, or scanlines individually.
Why does my game look normal? Is Cripe Shaders working?
Make sure you've selected Cripe Shaders in Video Settings > Shaders and that shaders are actually enabled. Some effects are subtle depending on your settings, so try adjusting the shader options to increase visibility of the glitches.
Can I turn off just the color split effect but keep the static and scanlines?
Yes—in the shader options menu, you can usually disable individual effects like color separation while leaving others active, giving you full control over which glitches appear.
Does Cripe Shaders work with other mods?
Cripe Shaders is compatible with most mods since it only affects visuals on your screen. However, mods that heavily modify rendering or other shaders may conflict—test in-game to be sure.
My FPS dropped a lot after installing Cripe Shaders. How do I fix it?
Try disabling or reducing the intensity of the most demanding effects (like screen corruption or ghost trails) in the shader options, or lower your render distance and other graphics settings to compensate.
Will Cripe Shaders run on my old laptop?
Cripe Shaders is designed to be lightweight since it skips heavy lighting calculations, so it should run on older hardware—but if you experience lag, reduce effect intensity or disable individual glitches in the options.
How do I take a good screenshot that shows off the glitch effects?
Increase the shader intensity in the options before taking your screenshot, position yourself in a colorful biome with varied blocks and water, and make sure the glitch effects are visible at that moment (they change randomly, so take multiple shots).
Can I use Cripe Shaders in multiplayer servers?
Yes—shaders are client-side only, so they won't affect other players or cause server issues. You'll see the glitch effects on your screen while everyone else sees the normal world.
What's the difference between the jitter and the screen corruption effects?
Jitter makes the entire screen wobble and shift smoothly, while screen corruption chops the image into grid pieces that move independently, creating a more chaotic broken-video-memory look.
