Create Bits ‘n’ Dyes Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I dye a fluid pipe or tank?
Hold a dye in your hand and right-click on the fluid pipe, tank, or pump you want to color. The block will immediately take on that dye color, and the color data is stored directly in the block without creating a new item.
Can I dye item vaults and storage blocks?
Yes, item vaults, vertical item vaults, Frogports, and Redstone Requesters all support dyeing. Simply right-click them with any standard dye color, just like you would with fluid components.
What happens if I dye a block and then remove the dye?
The dye color is permanent until you apply a different dye color to overwrite it. There is no way to remove color once applied—you must dye it again with a new color if you want to change it.
Why am I seeing duplicate dyed blocks in my creative menu?
Other Create addons may register their own dyed versions of the same blocks. Enable the `feature_suppression` option in the mod's configuration file to hide these duplicates and keep your creative menu clean.
Does dyeing blocks affect performance or cause lag?
No, the mod stores color data directly in block data rather than creating separate block variants, so it has minimal performance impact even with hundreds of colored blocks.
Can I dye components from Create: Connected and other addons?
Yes, the mod supports dyeing addon components like item silos from Create: Connected, steam machines from Create: Sound of Steam, and flying vessel parts from Create: Aeronautics.
Do dyed blocks keep their color when I break and replace them?
Yes, the color data is stored on the block itself, so when you break and pick up a dyed block, it retains its color when you place it again.
Can I use dyed blocks in crafting recipes?
Dyed blocks work in recipes just like their undyed versions—the color is purely visual and doesn't affect crafting or functionality.
What dye colors are available?
The mod uses standard Minecraft dyes, so you have access to all 16 dye colors including white, black, red, blue, green, and all other standard palette options.
Will this mod work with my other Create addons?
Yes, the mod is designed to work alongside popular Create addons like Slice & Dice, Electro Energetics, Enchantment Industry, and Vibrant Vaults without conflicts.
