Create Automotives Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make my first steam car?
Craft a Boilerbox using a mechanical crafter, then place it in the world. Right-click the seat to sit inside, and you'll have a basic vehicle ready to fuel and drive.
Why won't my car move?
Make sure you've filled the left-side fuel tank with lava buckets and opened the fuel valve by pressing U and holding it. Without fuel flowing to the engine, the car won't respond to movement inputs.
What do the upgrade slots do?
Right-click the green boxes on your car to add special parts that modify how your vehicle performs, such as improving speed, handling, or other capabilities. Different upgrades change your car's behavior in different ways.
How do I control the car while driving?
Use WASD to move, Space to activate boosters, C to honk the whistle, and N to engage the handbrake. Press U to open the control panel where you can manage the fuel valve.
Can I remove upgrades after I install them?
Yes, use the special wrench item and left-click on the upgrade you want to remove. This will take it off without destroying it.
Do I need the Create mod for this to work?
Yes, Create Automotives is designed as an addon for the Create mod and requires it to function. The cars follow Create's aesthetic and crafting rules.
What happens when my fuel runs out?
Your car will stop moving and won't respond to controls until you refuel by adding more lava buckets to the left-side tank and opening the fuel valve again.
Can I drive multiple cars at once?
You can only control one car at a time while seated in it, but you can build and park multiple cars in your world and switch between them by exiting and entering different seats.
Why is my car making weird sounds or not running smoothly?
Check that your fuel valve is properly opened through the control panel (press U), and ensure you have enough lava fuel in the tank. Also verify that all upgrades are properly installed in their slots.
Can I customize how my car looks?
The car's appearance is determined by its base design and the upgrades you install, which follow the Create mod's industrial aesthetic. You can't change colors or textures, but different upgrade combinations create different visual styles.
