How to Install and Configure Crash Exploit Fixer on Your Server
Installing the Mod
Crash Exploit Fixer is a server-side patch, so it only needs to be installed on the server — clients connecting to your server do not need it. Place the mod file into your server's mods folder alongside your existing server-side mods. If you run a hybrid or plugin-based server, check whether a plugin equivalent is available, since the mod targets the same exploit.
Verifying the Patch Is Active
After restarting the server, watch the startup log for the mod's initialization message. If you see it load without errors, the patch is active. You can also check your server's mod list command to confirm it appears. There is no in-game command or config screen for this mod — it works silently in the background, intercepting the malformed packet that would otherwise crash the server.
What to Expect
Once installed, a malicious player attempting the crash exploit will simply be disconnected or ignored rather than taking the whole server down. Legitimate players are unaffected. Because the patch mirrors Paper's tested logic, performance impact is negligible — you should not notice any tick rate changes. If your server still crashes after installing, confirm you are running a Minecraft version within the affected range and that no other mod is conflicting with packet handling.
