Install and Enable Your First Plugin

Download and Place the Plugin

Plugins for CraftBukkit come as .jar files. Download your chosen plugin from a trusted source, then locate your server's plugins folder (created automatically when you first run CraftBukkit). Drag the .jar file into this folder.

Start the Server and Verify

Start or restart your CraftBukkit server. The plugin will load during startup. Check the server console output for confirmation—you should see the plugin name listed among loaded plugins. If there are errors, check that the plugin is compatible with your CraftBukkit version.

Configure if Needed

Many plugins create a configuration file in the plugins folder (usually in a subfolder matching the plugin name). Open these .yml files with a text editor to customize settings like enable/disable features, permissions, or gameplay values. Save changes and restart the server for them to take effect.

Test In-Game

Join your server and test the plugin's commands or features. Most plugins include help commands—try typing /help pluginname or check the plugin's documentation for the command list.
