Using Craftable Saplings to Get Nether Fungi and Wood
Why Fungi Are Tricky
Crimson and warped fungi only generate in the Nether, and getting them normally means braving the Nether and finding a crimson or warped forest. This mod lets you craft them from their leaf-equivalent blocks plus a stick, so you can produce them without a Nether trip once you have the raw materials.
Crafting the Fungi
1. Obtain the nether "leaf"
blocks — for crimson that is the crimson fungus's associated foliage
blocks, and for warped the warped equivalent. These are the
blocks that look like the fungus's leafy growth.
2. Get a stick.
3. Combine one leaf block and one stick in a crafting grid, shapeless, to get the corresponding fungus.
Planting and Growing
- Crimson fungus must be planted on crimson nylium; warped fungus on warped nylium. On ordinary dirt or netherrack it will not grow into a huge fungus.
- Use bone meal on the planted fungus to grow it into a full huge fungus, which yields stems (the wood) and more fungus
blocks. - Harvest the huge fungus with an axe for stems, and shear or break the foliage for more leaf
blocks to repeat the recipe.
Practical Loop
Plant fungus on nylium, bone meal it, harvest stems and foliage, craft more fungi from the foliage plus sticks, and repeat. This gives you a renewable source of crimson and warped wood without ever returning to the Nether after your first nylium block.
