Build a Working Elevator with Platform Blocks
Setting Up the Elevator Structure
Start by creating a vertical shaft where your elevator will operate. Outline the base of your elevator car with platform blocks in a rectangular shape on the ground level. Make sure the outline forms a complete loop—gaps will cause blocks to detach during movement.
Connecting and Powering the Elevator
Stack solid blocks (like stone or wood) directly above your platform outline up to your desired height. The platform scans upward through these solid blocks to determine what moves with it. Once your structure is built, attach a redstone lever or button to one of the platform blocks.
Automating Multiple Floors
To create a multi-floor elevator, use redstone repeaters set to different delay lengths. Each repeater configuration sends a timed pulse that moves the elevator one floor, then stops. Stack repeaters in a chain to create the timing sequence for your desired number of stops.
Test the elevator by toggling the lever—it should rise smoothly. Adjust repeater delays if movement feels too fast or jerky. Add a platform at the top to catch the elevator safely.
