How to Add NBT Items Like Enchanted Gear or Written Books as Drops

Why NBT matters

Many players want mobs to drop special items — an enchanted sword, a renamed tool, or a written book with custom text. The mod supports this because /cemd addhand copies the full item stack, including its NBT data, rather than just the base item type. That means the enchantments, name, and book contents you set are preserved in the drop.

Create and capture the item

First, produce the exact item you want. Enchant it, rename it at an anvil, or write and sign a book. Hold the finished item in your main hand. Then run /cemd addhand <entity-name> for the mob you want to drop it. The command records the item with all its data intact.

Check the config and test

Open the configuration file and find the new entry. NBT items appear with their data attached, so the entry will look longer than a plain item entry. Set the drop probability as you would for any other drop, save, and run /cemd reload. Kill the mob and inspect the dropped item to confirm the enchantments, custom name, or book text survived. If something is missing, re-create the item and add it again, since the command captures whatever was in your hand at the moment you ran it.
