Configurable Extra Mob Drops Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with this mod after installing it?
Just install it on the server and start playing — no client setup is needed. The mod generates a configuration file automatically, and you can begin adding drops right away with /cemd addhand while holding the item you want to drop.
What does /cemd addhand actually do?
It takes the item currently in your main hand and adds it to the drop list of the mob you name. For example, holding a diamond sword and running /cemd addhand zombie will make zombies able to drop that sword.
How do I set how often an extra drop appears?
Drop probabilities are set in the configuration file the mod generates, not through the addhand command. Open the config, find the entry for the mob and item, and adjust its chance value, then run /cemd reload to apply the change.
How do I remove all extra drops from one mob?
Use /cemd cleardrops to wipe every extra drop you've added to that specific mob. This only clears your custom additions — the mob's normal vanilla drops are untouched.
Can I add enchanted gear or written books as drops?
Yes. Because the mod stores items with their NBT data, holding an enchanted sword, a named item, or a written book and using /cemd addhand will preserve those properties on the drop.
Why aren't my new drops showing up in game?
If you edited the config file by hand, you need to run /cemd reload for the changes to take effect. Also double-check the entity name you used matches the mob's actual ID, since a typo will silently do nothing.
Does this mod work on a multiplayer server without clients installing it?
Yes, it's server-side only, so players connecting with a vanilla client can join and still see the custom drops. You only need to install it on the server.
Will it work with mobs from other mods?
Yes, the mod is designed to be compatible with modded mobs as well as vanilla ones. Just use the modded entity's ID with /cemd addhand or in the config.
Can I make a mob drop multiple different items?
Yes, you can add as many entries as you like for the same mob, each with its own item and probability. They're all stored separately in the config and rolled independently on death.
Does adding lots of drops hurt server performance?
The mod only checks drop lists when a mob dies, so it has minimal impact during normal play. Performance issues are more likely to come from other mods or large mob farms than from this one.
