Configurable Despawn Timer Mod Guide

Controlling Despawn Times

This mod lets you change how long items and XP orbs remain in the world before despawning. The global setting defaults to 12,000 ticks (10 minutes), double vanilla's 6,000 ticks. You can set it anywhere from 0 to 72,000 ticks.

A config file is generated listing all item names. For each item you can assign a value:

  • -1 uses the global setting
  • 0 means the item never despawns
  • Any positive number sets a custom despawn time in ticks

There is also an option to protect items dropped by players from despawning, useful for death recovery or manual drops.

After editing the config, run /cdt reload to apply changes without restarting. Use /cdt alone to see command help.

This makes it easy to keep valuable drops around longer or clear clutter faster, all without touching the global default.
