Configurable Despawn Timer Mod FAQ
6 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does the Configurable Despawn Timer Mod let you change?
It lets you configure how long items and XP orbs stay in the world before despawning, from 0 to 72,000 ticks. The default is 12,000 ticks, compared to vanilla's 6,000 ticks.
How do I make a specific item never despawn?
In the generated config file, set that item's despawn time value to 0. A value of -1 makes it use the global setting instead.
Can I stop items dropped by players from despawning?
Yes, the mod includes a Player Item Protection option that prevents player-dropped items from despawning. This is useful for death recovery or manual drops.
What do the config values -1, 0, and a positive number mean?
-1 means use the global setting, 0 means the item never despawns, and any positive number is a custom despawn time in ticks.
Do I have to restart the game after editing the config file?
No, you can use the /cdt reload command to reload changes made to the config file without restarting. The /cdt usage command displays command help.
Does the mod allow per-item despawn times?
Yes, a config file is generated with all item names, letting you assign specific despawn times to each item. You can also set global despawn times for items and XP orbs.
