Conduits Prevent Drowned Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I actually get the drowned to stop spawning near my base?
You need an active conduit effect on your player, not just a conduit placed nearby. Once the conduit power is active on you, drowned spawns are suppressed within the configured radius.
Does the conduit have to be fully powered with prismarine for this to work?
Yes, the conduit must be activated and granting you the Conduit Power effect. An unpowered or incomplete conduit frame won't trigger the spawn suppression.
What does preventDrownedInRange actually measure?
It sets the Euclidean distance around drowned mobs that the mod checks for a player with the conduit effect. If a player with the effect is within that range of a potential drowned spawn, the spawn is blocked.
Why are drowned still spawning even though my conduit is active?
The most common causes are that the spawning drowned is outside your configured range, or the conduit effect isn't actually active on you at that moment. Check that you have the Conduit Power effect and that your range value covers the area.
Does this mod stop drowned from spawning everywhere in the world?
No, it only suppresses drowned spawns near players who currently have the conduit effect. Areas with no conduit-powered player nearby will still spawn drowned normally.
Will this break my drowned farm?
It can, if the farm is within range of a player holding the conduit effect. Move your AFK spot outside the configured range, or lower the range value so the farm area isn't covered.
Can I use this to make ocean monuments safer?
Yes, an active conduit effect on you will suppress drowned spawns around the monument area within range. This reduces the drowned that would otherwise swarm you while you fight guardians.
What's a good value for preventDrownedInRange?
The default is very large and effectively covers everything near a conduit-powered player. If you want a tighter, more localized effect, lower the value until it matches the area you actually care about.
Does this mod work on a server, and does every player need it?
It's a configurable mod, so it needs to be installed where the spawning logic runs, typically the server. Clients connecting to a server with it don't need their own copy for the suppression to apply.
Will this hurt my performance or conflict with other mob mods?
It's a minimalistic mod that only adds a spawn check, so performance impact is negligible. Conflicts are unlikely, but other mods that also modify drowned spawning could interact with it, so test if you run several.
